How to use my favorite Windows 7 feature: Sticky Notes!

I love Sticky Notes! In Windows 7, you can write Sticky Notes and stick them right on your desk top.

To find Sticky Notes, go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/Sticky Notes.

The shortcut is actually in this location:

Once you find the shortcut, right click to pin it to your taskbar. This tool is so handy that you will want to use it often.

Click “New Note” and a new Sticky Note with the default color of yellow will appear. You can instantly write anything you want on the note and it will automatically be saved.

Your Sticky Note will stay on your desktop until you delete it. (you can also close your Sticky Notes program, but when you open it, your notes will still be there.)

How to add and delete Sticky Notes on your desktop:

  • “+” adds a new note.
  • “x” deletes the note.

Once your Sticky Note is on your desktop, right clicking inside the note gives you the option to change the color of your Sticky Note:

Now, here is the secret: It does not tell you in the right click menu, but you can also format text:

Here is a list of the keyboard shortcuts for editing the text format:

Bold Ctrl+B
Italic Ctrl+I
Underlined Ctrl+U
Strikethrough Ctrl+T
Larger text Ctrl+Shift+>
Smaller text Ctrl+Shift+<
Bullet or Numbers Ctrl+Shift+L (toggle)

I hope you enjoy using my favorite Windows 7 feature, Sticky Notes!X
