An ice storm is on it’s way to my house…

Here in Oklahoma City we are preparing an ice storm.

My hubby went shopping to stock up on food in case we are stuck at home for a while. It was not an original idea! The store was packed with people preparing for the storm.

Ice storms are not fun. Ice builds up on power lines and weighs the lines down. If this storm is anything like past storms, there will be most likely many people without power for days or a week, or more.

We’ve had a lot of power outages due to ice storms. The last time I was on the couch wrapped in blankets with my three dogs piled on me waiting for the heat to come back on. Since the lights were out, I moved the couch to the glass patio door so I could read while I watched the storm.

The nice part of an ice storm is that it turns my backyard into a winter wonderland. The California Girl part of me never tires of seeing snow.

This post is putting me in the mood for some hot food. I think I’ll have some more potato/corn chowder that my hubby made for me…

I don\’t mind snow that much, and your storm is bringing us at least 6" this weekend if the weather guessers can be believed, but I hate ice. When I was stationed in Wichita Falls one storm dumped so much ice that the TIs let us walk the mile or so from the barracks to school instead of marching. Real nice guys!

l hope your power doesn\’t go out X. Ugh, way too cold for that! Snow is better than ice any day! Stay safe!!

Oh, man. Weather changes quickly in Oklahoma City. We already have icicles a foot long! Our pond\’s waterfall is freezing. The roads are nasty. Yikes. I wish my hubby would come home home early. X

Let us know when he gets home safe and sound. l love storms, but l would hate to have no heat in the winter. Do you have any other means of heat? Make sure you have the candles/flashlights at the ready.

@Tracey: Hubby is home safe! We have battery operated lights. No heat. Just a pile of dogs… X

Wow, it is a winter wonderland already! It is 7:15 pm. Usually it is dark this time of year. But, whatever light there is is reflected from the fog in the sky to the snow/ice on the ground, and it is bright enough to read outside! We are staying inside where it is warm. Plus, my hubby baked me cookies to keep me warm on the INside, too. X

The ice storm did hit and run and is over now leaving a lot of ice in town. But, the problems are going to stay for days as some areas are without power. Travelling is dangerous. My hubby took today off, and we are staying in. X
